As part of the American Cancer Society CAN Plant it Pink campaign in our region, there is a special new award for Caregivers in our community. These awards are made possible through ACS CAN Plant it Pink sponsor in Cincinnati, Vitas Innovative Hospice.
Attached is the nomination form – please feel free to share this information with survivors, volunteers and partners that you work with – anyone and everyone!
Below are a few details about the awards:
- There will be four award categories: Medical professional, physician; Medical professional, non-physician; Nonprofessional caregiver, adult; Nonprofessional caregiver; and Youth (age 17 or younger).
- Winners of the Caregiver awards will be selected by a volunteer committee and awarded/announced at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Paint the Square Pink in Cincinnati.
- All nominees will be recognized at Making Strides and Paint the Square Pink.
- Nominations for the Cincinnati event are due, Friday, September 3, 2010.

The Komen Greater Cincinnati Race for the Cure is just around the corner! PRG is forming a team for the event on September 25, downtown.
Come out and join other PRG members as we raise money to find a cure. You will still be eligible for the individual fundraising goals and prizes if you join the team.

Football season is upon us again! Nominate a deserving breast cancer survivors for the Pink Football Award. The award will be presented at Football 101 and recognized on the field at the Bengals vs. Buccaneers game.
The committee is accepting nominations for the 6th annual “Breast Cancer Survivor of the Year” Pink Football Award presented by the Marvin Lewis Community Fund and the Cincinnati Bengals from now until September 15th on their website at www.marvinlewis.org.

My name is Lauren. I am in the 7th grade. I am trying to raise money to donate to breast cancer charities to help people like my grandmother, who has genetic breast cancer. I am collecting recipes to put together a Kids’ Cookbook for the Cure. If any of your members have any recipes to share, send them to: cookingjust4kids@gmail.com

Durr YMCA breast cancer survivor scholarships, and the ongoing mission of The Kentucky Thorough-Breasts Dragon Boat Racing Team benefit from this event through your team registration and pledges. The Kentucky Thorough-Breasts is Kentucky’s first dragon boat racing team comprised of breast cancer survivors and supporters. We proudly serve as ambassadors representing the women of the Commonwealth of Kentucky for promotion of women’s health, breast cancer awareness, and participation in the sport of dragon boat racing. The fourth annual Ride Cincinnati will be held Sunday June 13 at Yeatman’s Cove. Money raised for the event goes to the UC Barrett Cancer Center to find a cure for breast cancer.
The noncompetitive ride is open to cyclists of all levels. Pink Ribbon Girls will host a table at the event. If you’re not up to biking, we could still use some volunteers at our table. If you’re interested, contact Wendy Coates at

Breast Fest 2010 Crew
Thanks to Kathy McCarthy and her CREW, Breast Fest 2010 raised $11,000 for Patti Horton and Pink Ribbon Girls! Even though the weather wasn’t the best, over 300 bikers came out to ride for hope and join in the festivities to raise funds and awareness for young breast cancer survivors!
