May 3rd: Experience Marathoning With Meaning: Fly Pink!

Volunteer for this event

We have an exciting new opportunity to tell our members and supporters about! Have you ever thought to yourself that you’d like to run a marathon? If yes, the time to take on that challenge is now! Pink Ribbon Girls now has a charity running team raising money and participating in Cincinnati’s Flying Pig Marathon… on May 3, 2009, we’ll be Flying Pink. When you Fly Pink, you will be helping young women who need support in their battle with breast cancer today. With your commitment to raise funds, we’ll provide you membership in the best training program in Greater Cincinnati – Bob Roncker’s Running Spot training group. We’ll be there every step – to help you train, raise funds and know what to expect in this challenging but incredible experience.

See what you can accomplish, who you can help, who you can become… when you’re Flying Pink.

Contact Joanna to sign up: 513.503.2051, jeargus@gmail.com.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Tell us you want to run! We’ll have you fill out a couple things and then PRG will sign you up for and cover the cost of the training program at Bob Roncker’s Running Spot. Read about it at www.runningspot.com/training.php.
  2. Register yourself for the Flying Pig Marathon – if before January 31, 2009, register on the website (www.flyingpigmarathon.com) for $60, if after January 31, 2009, print out the registration form and mail it in, mentioning the Flying Pink team, and still get the $60 rate.
  3. Agree to raise $750 for Pink Ribbon Girls – we promise, it’ll be much easier to do than you think, we’ll even help you with fundraising tactics and ideas, and nothing will feel as good as knowing you are helping women with breast cancer receive the support they need.
  4. Participate in the Training Program… run! The professionals at the Running Spot will guide you through the hard work. They provide a training schedule for you to follow and group runs twice a week, including the weekly long run. They’ll teach you about nutrition for running, staying injury free and other new concepts you’ll want to learn about. All the while you’ll feel the support and camaraderie of all the others taking on this challenge alongside you.
  5. Receive regular contact of support and motivation from the Flying Pink team.
  6. Finally, by May 3, 20009, when you run the marathon, you’ll be ready to take on the course, knowing you’ve trained, prepared and dedicated yourself to an important and worthy cause. We’ll provide a Flying Pink team running shirt for the big day too – we want our team looking great out there!

Thank you! We are so proud of our Flying Pink runners and so grateful to them…
